Treats wind-heat common cold headache, jaundice, upper respiratory tract infection, tonsillitis, sore swollen throat, bronchitis, pneumonia, hemoptysis due to pulmonary tuberculosis, acute and chronic nephritis, and infantile malnutrition; fresh material is pounded and applied to the affected area; for external use it treats traumatic injury, external bleeding, venomous snakebite, mastitis, sores and toxic swellings, and tinea manuum and pedis. Contraindicated in pregnant women.
