Original text
This formula is the Kampo Seven-Ingredient Areca Decoction with Bitter orange immature fruit removed and Magnolia bark, Aucklandia root, and Perilla added. It treats beriberi with swelling and fullness and shortness of breath, and is more effective than taking the formula of Tang Shizhong. The Bing-Su San used by common physicians is even less effective than this formula.

Areca seed 4 g, Magnolia bark 3 g, Cassia twig 3 g, Tangerine peel 3 g, Fresh ginger 3 g, Rhubarb 1 g, Aucklandia root 1 g, Licorice 1 g, Perilla leaf 1 g.
Preparation
Decoct in water and take warm.
Form
湯劑
Traditional indications
Palpitations, stiff shoulders, and tendency to constipation. It is most often used for those with beriberi-like symptoms and water toxicity. It is a formula mainly for beriberi (edema, palpitations, difficulty breathing) and neurosis; it can also be applied to treat cardiac neurosis, hypertension, goiter, myocarditis, gastroenteritis, polyneuritis, epilepsy, herpes, rheumatic pain, pulmonary tuberculosis, fatigue disease, anemia, menopausal disorders, and other diseases.
Cautions
Use with caution in people with body weakness, weak stomach, or diarrhea with soft stools.
