Cautions
During menstruation, one should not overexert, because exertion consumes Qi and stirs Blood, which can cause prolonged menstruation or excessive menstrual flow. During menstruation, one should not become angry, because anger causes the Liver to fail to govern free coursing, and Liver Qi becomes stagnant, which can often lead to menstrual disorders or amenorrhea, forming patterns such as Blood stasis abdominal pain. During menstruation, one should not eat too much raw and cold food or sit or lie in cold places, because cold is congealing and stagnating; if exposed to cold during menstruation, it can cause Blood to congeal due to cold and become stagnant and obstructed, all of which can cause menstrual diseases.
