Original text
On the thirteenth day of cold damage without resolution, there is fullness of the chest and hypochondrium with vomiting, tidal fever around late afternoon, and afterward mild diarrhea. This was originally a Chai Hu pattern; if purged, there should have been no diarrhea, but now there is diarrhea instead; one knows the physician purged with pill medicine, which was not the correct treatment. Tidal fever is excess; first it is appropriate to use Xiao Chai Hu Tang to resolve the exterior, afterward Chai Hu Jia Mang Xiao Tang governs it. (Shang Han Lun (Treatise on Cold Damage))
