Xi Gan San (Liver-Washing Powder)

太平惠民和劑局方

Danggui (remove roothead), Bohe (remove stems), Qianghuo (remove roothead), Fangfeng (remove roothead), Shanzhizi Ren, Gancao (honey-fried), Dahuang (roasted), Chuanxiong (each 2 liang).

Grind the above into powder. Take 2 qian each time, mix and take with cold water or boiled water, after meals; taken daily, it is effective.

Disperse wind and dissipate heat, clear the liver and drain fire.

Wind-heat and heat-toxin attack upward; sudden redness of the eyes, swelling and pain making it difficult to open, gritty and astringent with discharge and tears, blurred vision and photophobia, or formation of corneal opacity; constipation, dark scanty painful urination, and a wiry, forceful, full pulse.
