Cold damage, floating pulse, spontaneous sweating, frequent urination, heart vexation, slight aversion to cold, and cramping of the feet; if Guizhi Tang is instead given to attack the exterior, this is an error. After this, if there is reversal cold, dry throat, restlessness, and vomiting, prepare Gancao Ganjiang Tang and give it, in order to restore Yang. If the reversal cold improves and the feet are warm, further prepare Shaoyao Gancao Tang and give it; the feet will then extend. If stomach Qi is disharmonious and there is delirious speech, give a small amount of Tiaowei Chengqi Tang. If sweating is repeatedly induced and burning needle is additionally applied, Sini Tang governs. (Shang Han Lun (Treatise on Cold Damage))
-- After inducing sweating, if there is aversion to cold, it is due to deficiency; if there is only heat, it is excess; one should harmonize stomach Qi and give Tiaowei Chengqi Tang. (Shang Han Lun (Treatise on Cold Damage))
-- Taiyang disease is unresolved; the Yin and Yang pulses are both quiet/even. There will first be shivering, and resolution will occur after sweating. If only the Yang pulse is faint, resolution will first occur by sweating; if only the Yin pulse is faint, resolution will occur by purgation. If one wishes to purge, Tiaowei Chengqi Tang is suitable. (Shang Han Lun (Treatise on Cold Damage))
-- Cold damage, on the thirteenth day not resolved; after passing the course, there is delirious speech because there is heat, and one should use a decoction to purge. If urination is free, the stool should be hard; yet there is instead diarrhea, and if the pulse is harmonious, know that the physician purged with pill medicine; this is not the correct treatment. If there is spontaneous diarrhea, the pulse should be faint and cold; now if it is instead harmonious, this is internal excess; Tiaowei Chengqi Tang governs. (Shang Han Lun (Treatise on Cold Damage))
-- Taiyang disease, more than ten days after passing the course, with mild nausea below the heart and chest pain, stool instead loose, slight abdominal fullness, depressed and slightly vexed; if before this time there was severe self-induced vomiting and purgation, one may give Tiaowei Chengqi Tang; if not so, it should not be given. If there is only a desire to vomit, chest pain, and slight loose stool, this is not a Chaihu pattern; because of the vomiting, one knows there was severe vomiting and purgation. (Shang Han Lun (Treatise on Cold Damage))
-- Yangming disease, without vomiting or purgation, with heart vexation, may be given Tiaowei Chengqi Tang. (Shang Han Lun (Treatise on Cold Damage))
-- Taiyang disease for three days; after inducing sweating it is not resolved, with steaming heat, this belongs to the stomach; Tiaowei Chengqi Tang governs. (Shang Han Lun (Treatise on Cold Damage))
-- After vomiting in cold damage, if there is abdominal distention and fullness, give Tiaowei Chengqi Tang. (Shang Han Lun (Treatise on Cold Damage))
-- If the stool is not free and stomach Qi is disharmonious, Tiaowei Chengqi Tang is suitable. (Shang Han Lun (Treatise on Cold Damage))
